Walking in Carrick-on-Suir: Rolling hills, River Walks
Carrick-on-Suir is a region of history, heritage and great natural beauty. Carrick-on-Suir gives way to rolling hills and towering mountains all crisscrossed by 'way marked ways' (east Munster way and south Leinster way) walking routes which link many towns and villages. Walking at your own pace whether alongside rivers or through forests and mountains you are free to savour the special charms of this splendid part of Ireland. Choose walks to suit your own ability and let the splendours of the South East unfold before you.

The East Munster Way extends from Carrick-on-Suir, west/south-west to Clogheen, a distance of 70 kms. The South Leinster Way, which can also be joined at Carrick-on-Suir runs north-east for 102 km via Piltown and the valleys of the Nore, Barrow and Slaney to Kildavin.

Rathgormack Hiking Centre
Situated in the nearby Co. Waterford village of Rathgormack, the Rathgormack Hiking Centre is strategically placed to offer a whole host of recreational, social and cultural activities to visitors in the area. The setting, in the shadow of the Comeragh Mountains, is ideally located for those interested in walking, cycling or horse riding. There are wonderful scenic views in this area of Co. Waterford, just 9 km from Carrick-on-Suir. The premises are suitably equipped for self-catering with dormitory style accommodation. Car parking space is available. Groups are welcome to enjoy a variety of indoor sports e.g. football, basketball, badminton, floor exercises etc. After strenuous activities one can retire and enjoy the hospitality of the local lounge bars with traditional music and craic. The centre is open all year round with groups only in the winter period.
